2349620968 6127da2776 150x150 Weight Loss for Men Over 40: Russell Crowes Battle of the Bulge 47-year-old actor RUSSELL Crowe started a 105 day plan to lose weight on the 17th June, 2011 after commencing with a weight of 236.4 lbs (107.22kgs).  His overall goal is to lose a total of 41 lbs (18 kgs).

So far he has apparently lost more than 7 kgs with a variety of exercise including cycling, walking and weightlifting.

He has been giving regular updates to his followers and fans on Twitter. He recently tweeted what he has been doing to achieve his fat loss goal,  ”Just like your muscle has memory, so does your body. If I stop exercising my body tries to return to its heaviest weight.”

Rumours are abounding that he is on an intense health regime is because he will be playing Superman’s biological father, Jor-El, in the Man Of Steel movie. Marlon Brando was the last man to play the buffed-up role.

In 2009, it was revealed Russell, 47, was using a state-of-the-art gym on the set of ‘Robin Hood’ to avoid gaining weight.

He is following a strict exercise regime and a gluten-free die, including taking in approximately 2400 calories which includes all his beverages.

Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, and it commonly used as a food additive such as “dextrin” which may come in the form of a flavoring, stabilizing or thickening agent.

Gluten-free diet and weight loss

With the removal of a lot of processed foods weight with a gluten-free diet , the side result is that such a diet is very healthy and balanced. Processed foods are the foods that can make people put on weight.

This means that such a diet includes eating fresh fruit, dairy, meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and non gluten grains.

Russell is no stranger to exercise plans after it was reportedly revealed that in 2009 on the set of ‘Robin Hood’ he was using a state-of-the-art gym to avoid gaining weight.

Writing on his twitter page last month he said, ‘day 12 of a 105 day training period, there is a long way to go, one layer of tissue paper per day of effort and diet … it takes a long time (sic).
